Municipal Library
Paros Public Library – Public Information Center is housed in a renovated neoclassical building, formerly owned by a judge, at Ai-Giannis Solomos square in the old town.
It’s collections consist of: – magazines – reference material – juvenile material – literature in foreign languages – biographies’ section – general collection – special collection with materials on Paros and Cyclades as well as rare material – 8 pc stations for public service and free internet access, one of which with an audiovisual collection of Parian and Cycladic archives and two of which for people with special needs – photocopier, scanner, printers
All library rooms can be used as study areas and the patio at the back of the building may be used for cultural events as well as leisure reading.
Paros Public Library holds approximately 13.000 titles, whose number constantly increases. Although the majority of the library’s acquisitions come from donations, the library purchases additional volumes each year from the Municipal annual budget as well as the “Friends of the Library” Association.
Besides the standard services to its members – loans and reference – the library offers the service of interlibrary loans through national and international libraries and access to e-journals.
The library’s collection is fully indexed and available online.
The library hosts cultural and other events, provides orientation, user training etc.
