Routes in Marpissa

Routes in Marpissa is a three-day, experiential, cultural festival organized by a group of volunteers and takes place every August in Marpissa, Paros. The festival has as its central idea to create routes and points of interest in the traditional settlement, around themes of architecture, folklore, music, art and environment. It is designed on the characteristics and scale of the village, showing with respect to the hospitable character of this place. It aims at an experiential approach of activities so everyone can have an active role in the events. The participation and interaction of residents, visitors and volunteers work together in a unique, creative result.

Agios Antonios Monastery & Kefalos hill

A 16th century Monastery dedicated to Agios Antonios ( St. Antonios). Built at the top of an inactive volcano which is now known as Kefalos hill. The view from the monastery is breathtaking and the footpath to the top is a must-do!

Sculpture Museum Nikos Perantinos

A sculpture museum dedicated to the work of Nikolaos Perantinos. There you can see over 190 scultures and art objects of classic art.

Folklore Museum of Marpissa

An original museum depicting the life of old Marpissa. Its exhibits (mainly objects of every-day use of the past) have been donated with love by the people of the village. The museum is actually an old house furnished and decorated as it used to be more than 70 years ago. Next-door, there is as well an "antique" barber's shop.

Paros Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

Paros Animal Welfare Society has been active on Paros Island since 1995 and became an official body in 1999. It remains the only organization involved with the welfare of animals under human care. PAWS aims to rehome unwanted dogs and help neighborhoods manage their stray cat communities. It also monitors and reports any animal abuse and recommends good practices.

AWAKE is a team of young & enthusiastic professionals, offering a wide range of water-sports, mountain bike rentals and tours. Awake Watersports centers Punda Beach & Farangas Beach: water-skiing, wakeboarding, snorkelling, canoeing etc. with rentals & lessons. Awake Mountain Bike is based at New Golden Beach (Tserdakia) and offers MTB rentals, guided & self-guided tours. Activities packages available. Special lessons for children.
